COM Request – Seating Upholstery

Please review the guidelines below prior to selecting a fabric.
- Materials containing Xorel or TPE (Tekloom) are not suitable for use on seating products.
- Striped and/or linear patterns are not recommended on non-task seating due to bowing/skewing and fabric application.
- Materials over 60” wide.
Haworth has three methods of testing seating products.
- Test Type: Memo Sample Testing - Haworth will acquire Memo Samples for testing. (Candor, Improv Side Seating, Openest Pillows, Storage Cushions & X99)
- Test Type: Memo Sample Testing (Woven Only) - Haworth will acquire Memo Sample for testing. (Cabana, Hello, Openest, Pebble, Riverbend, ToDo, Very Task, Zody Guest [seat]). If memo review is inconclusive yardage will be required as noted below.
- Test Type: Yardage Required Testing - Dealer to Supply Required Yardage for testing. Product Selection and yardage requirements: Only one product test is allowed per request for the following products. Results provided in 10 business days.

COM Request – Vertical Fabrics

Please review the guidelines below prior to selecting a fabric.
- Fabrics must meet Flammability Requirements for use on most vertical products (Except Tackboards).
- Vertical fabrics are normally 66” in width. There may be product size restrictions if requesting fabrics less than 66” wide (railroading the fabric is an option, however a different Order Entry/Color Code is required).
- Fabrics that reference Polyolefin, Olefin, or Xorel in their content or fabrics treated with Stain Repellents will not be approved due to performance reasons.
Test Type: Yardage Required Testing - Dealer to Supply Required Yardage for Testing.
Product Selection and yardage requirements: Only one product test is allowed per request for the following products.

Test results will be emailed to you within 10 business days upon the receipt of the required yardage. If your COM request is approved, an Order Entry Code will be provided with the test results.

COM Request – Wall Covering Request

Please review the guidelines below prior to selecting a wall covering.
- Backing is required on woven materials to prevent glue bleed through.
- Material width not to exceed 54”
- Materials weighing over 15.0 OZ/LY are not suitable for use on Architectural products.
Test Type: Memo Sample Pre-test & Dealer to Supply required material for testing
- Haworth will acquire the memo sample required for a pre-test evaluation.
- If the pattern/color passes the memo evaluation, you will be instructed to send in twelve (12) yards of material for testing.
- For woven fabrics, you may be asked to have a backer and or treatment applied to the test yardage.
- Additional colors for an approved pattern will also need to go through the above process.
Product Selection and yardage requirements: The following products will be tested with this request.
- Enclose ®, Pergola, Trivati ® (12 yards)

COM Request – Laminate & Edge Band

Please review the guidelines below prior to selecting a laminate:
- Sheets must be available in 60” widths.
- Laminate must have a standard thickness of .028 (vertical grade).
- Finish must be matte or low-gloss, as high gloss finishes are highly susceptible to scratching during the manufacturing process.
- Touchless (fingerprint resistant) finishes are not feasible.
- Laminates shipped standard with a protective coating (peel coat) are not allowed.
- When specifying a COM laminate, it is suggested to select from Haworth standard edge color, matching edge band are available.
- Dealer to Supply one (1) 2” x 3” sample for evaluation.
- Shipping address and labeling instructions will be provided through your COM Request.
Edge Band Terms & Conditions
- A $6,000 net fee will be manually added as a separate line item on your invoice. These charges are not discountable. (This fee may be re-applied at six-month intervals).
- Edge band is Price Grade C. You can use HP-C~ for pricing quotes in Lynx.
- Extended lead times may occur.
- Haworth reserves the right discard any unused edge band after 6 months of no order demand. If orders are placed after such a time, additional fees will be added to future orders.

COM Request – Wood Stain

Please review the guidelines below prior to requesting a custom wood stain.
- Custom Wood Stain is supplied in the chemistry and gloss standard to the product.
- Wood Stain master samples have a shelf-life of 12 months.
- Samples older than 12 months must be remastered to ensure color accuracy. A COM request must be submitted at no charge.
- Wood will naturally shift in color as it ages. Consider requesting a custom Wood Stain when mixing old and new products in the same office to avoid a mismatch at install, but be aware that they will fade differently, and/or at different rates after install.
Process Overview:
- Upon the receipt of your Purchase order and the color samples we need to match to, we will send your request out for color matching.
- Color masters will be shipped to you for approval within 15 business days. You will receive an email notification of the shipment along with the tracking number.
- After you review the color masters, please respond to the email with your decision per the instructions sent. A scan or photo of the signed approval is needed to be attached to the email.
- Once you approve the color master, an Order Entry Code will be provided via email. You may then place your order.

- Submit a COM Wood Stain Request.
- Dealer to Supply one (1) color sample for matching.
- A $200 Purchase Order is required for each color match. Please attach to the request upon submission.

Request Type: Re-Master existing COM
- Submit a COM Wood Stain Request.
- Requests for Re-Mastered stains are at no-charge. Please include Order Entry/Color Code in the Color Name/ Description field below on your request.
- Product Group Selection: Same as above.
Request Type: Custom Veneer
- Submit a COM Wood Stain Request.
- Provide a detailed description along with reference numbers for the custom veneer. The COM department will contact our Lumber Buyer to determine if we can source this veneer, obtain availability and pricing grade. If it can be sourced, a sample will be needed for matching.
- A $200 Purchase Order is required. Please attach to the request upon submission.
- Product Group Selection: Same as above.
Custom Wood Stain Charges
- There will be a $500.00 net fee annually.
- Fee will be applied to the initial order( not included in Lynx pricing quotes).
- All custom wood stain charges are non-discountable.

COM Request – Paint on Metal

- Custom colors are supplied in standard gloss and finish.
- Custom metallic and textured finishes are not available.
- Custom paint is not available on plastic parts.
Request Type: Custom Color Process Overview
- Dealer to Supply one (1) color sample or Pantone/RAL number for matching.
- A $200 Purchase Order is required for each color match. Please attach the PO to the request upon submission.
- Shipping address and labeling instructions will be provided through your COM Request.
- Upon the receipt of your PO and the color samples we will send your request out for color matching.
- Color masters will be shipped to you for approval within 10 business days. You will receive an email notification of the shipment along with the tracking number.
- After you review the color masters, please respond to the email with your decision per the instruction.
- Once you approve the color master, an Order Entry Code will be provided via email. You may then place your order.
Custom Paint on Metal Charge (including Non-Standard applications of standard Haworth Trim colors)
- Custom paints will be at Grade B pricing.
- There will be a $500 net fee annually.
- Fee will be applied to the initial order (not included in Lynx pricing quotes).
- All custom paint charges are non-discountable.

COM Request – Paint on Wood

COM Request – Glass (Private Office or Workstations)

Request Type: Back Painted Glass only
- A $200 Purchase Order is required for each color match. Please attach the PO to the request upon submission.
- Dealer to Supply one (1) color sample or Pantone/RAL number for matching.
- Shipping address and labeling instructions will be provided through your COM Request.
Process Overview:
- Upon the receipt of your PO and the color sample we will send your request out for color matching.
- Color masters will be shipped to you for approval within 15 business days. You will receive an email notification of the shipment along with the tracking number.
- * Exception: If a Haworth color is being matched, our quality team will approve the color match.

Process Overview:
- Fill out Project Information and you will be contacted regarding your request.
- Samples may be shipped to you for approval. You will receive an email notification of the shipment along with the tracking number.
- After you review the samples, please respond to the email with your decision per the instructions.
- Once you approve the samples, an Order Entry Code will be provided via email. Depending on the glass composition you may also be instructed to obtain a Tailored Solution.
Textile Procurement & Pricing
Haworth to Supply COM (HTS)
Haworth to procure COM textiles for production is the primary method of setting up COM’s for customer orders. Order Entry Codes are then set-up in one of the two following price categories.
Graded-In COM
- Grades are pre-assigned based on our cost to purchase the fabric.
- Grades will price out the same as our standard fabrics.
- No additional charges apply.
- Most of the COM textiles on our website are Graded-In.
Non-Graded COM
- If a fabric cost exceeds the range of our highest grade it will be set up as Non-Graded.
- Grade A product pricing will apply, plus the purchased cost of the textile and an additional 4% (based on the cost of the textile) will be charged to cover administrative fees.
- The textile cost and the administrative fees will be added as a non-discountable line item on your invoice.
- When quoting a Non-Graded COM, you should use the price shown on the supplier website when calculating the additional charges.
- Yardage estimates for quoting can be calculated by using the yardage amounts shown in the applicable Haworth Price List. For seating products that are seamed, you will also need to add a textile repeat percentage amount to your calculation. The additional yardage allows for pattern matching. (see repeat size and percentages below)

Dealer to Supply COM (DTS)
There are occasions that Haworth will accommodate a request for a dealer to supply a COM.
- The main reason for this is when a pattern or color has been discontinued or being phased-out by a supplier.
- Grade A product pricing will apply with no additional charges.
- A DTS Order Entry Code will need to be requested for your textile. Add this notation in the Special Instructions field.
- Within 5 days of placing an order through Lynx, your Customer Service Representative will notify you of the COM yardage requirements, tagging information and the manufacturing plant(s) ship to address.
- Please do not send the fabric ahead of placing your order, as this information is critical for the proper identification of your production material.
- Haworth to Supply is the preferred option due to issues with lost material, shipments going to the wrong manufacturing location, mislabeling, dirty and or damaged material.
COM Terms & Conditions
- COMS are evaluated for application only. Performance of COM textiles are not covered under warranty. This includes reverse crocking where ink from clothing is transferred to the fabric. The COM provider is responsible for material quality, performance and color consistency to meet commercial tolerances. Only textiles that meet the Association for Contract Textiles (ACT) performance standards may be specified.
- Some COM textiles will stretch more than others, resulting in a small amount of material pooling. This can be addressed by running a hand across the surface to smooth the material and is not considered a manufacturing defect.
- COM suppliers may adjust pricing for their textiles (includes Alliance patterns) at any time. Therefore, Haworth will also adjust our pricing (and Grades) accordingly.
- Haworth reserves the right to reject or reverse any COM approval that does not meet manufacturing requirements in actual production.
- Haworth is not responsible for the obsolescence of COM patterns and or colorways.
