HELLO AND CLOSED-LOOP MANUFACTURED FERN EARN CORE77 RECOGNITION

Core77 Design Awards is an annual global competition that recognizes excellence in 20 distinct design disciplines.

June 18, 2026 – Haworth’s Hello chair and closed-loop manufacturing process in Fern ergonomic seating have earned accolades from the 2026 Core77 Design Awards.

The closed-loop manufactured Fern chair is a runner up in the Sustainability category. Through Haworth’s closed-loop manufacturing process, the plastic generated during Fern production as well as end-of-life chair parts are used to create new chairs without losing value and utility. This process allows for the continuous recycling of chair parts, significantly reducing waste and raw materials, cutting carbon emissions by 775 tonnes annually and reducing Fern’s carbon footprint by 10%. This industry-first manufacturing breakthrough is a result of Haworth’s partnership with Royal Technologies and PADNOS.

Reimagined by Patricia Urquiola, Hello is a Notable product in the Furniture & Lighting category. A collection of active lounge chairs and poufs, this flexible seating family bridges the gap between traditional lounge and conference seating, supporting diverse workstyles and flexible spaces. Known for her warm, comfortable and contemporary designs and material choices, Urquiola utilized the platform and solid, time-tested interior frame construction of the original design and transformed it into a softer, more modern aesthetic.

Now in its fifteenth year, the Core77 Design Awards program remains dedicated to excellence and inclusivity to promote the best work on a global scale. The full Core77 Design Awards Gallery, recognizing 20 different design categories, can be found here.
