July 1, 2026 – ANEW recognized Haworth with its Legacy Award, honoring a commitment to sustainability, community stewardship and support of ANEW's mission since the organization's founding.
The ANEW Legacy Award celebrates organizations whose leadership and support have advanced ANEW's objective of creating social, environmental and economic benefit through the responsible reuse of surplus materials. The award was presented to Matthew Haworth in recognition of Haworth's longstanding support for ANEW’s mission, first demonstrated by G.W. Haworth, who supported the organization's concept and helped fund the startup nonprofit during its formative years.
ANEW is dedicated to recognizing the value of surplus from the built environment and transforming the liquidation process through its Surplus Stewardship program. Through this audited practice, ANEW partners with corporations to divert surplus furniture, fixtures and equipment from landfills and redirect them to charities, nonprofit organizations, public agencies and underserved communities.
Each year, ANEW helps prevent an average of more than 3 million pounds of surplus materials from entering landfills. Since its inception in 2005, the organization has successfully matched usable surplus items with more than 2,000 recipient organizations across 20 countries.
