Trends and Insights from Salone del Mobile 2022

See how this year’s designs reflected what it means to live and work today

Since 2019, the pandemic has taken us all through a global experiment of how we live our lives. A sudden jolt had us adapting to working from home. Then, we began transitioning to work from anywhere in third spaces. And now, with hybrid working, we’re remote and working at the workplace.

At this year’s 60th edition of Salone del Mobile exposition at Milan Design Week, it was apparent that designers recognize the opportunities and responsibilities design has in today’s culture and our environment. In contrast to the grandiose installations that have marked pre-pandemic editions of the event, concepts of what it means to live and work comfortably—and responsibly—were creatively explored and presented.

Here are our key insights on the design trends, spaces, and experiences revealed at Salone del Mobile 2022:

Haworth Collection Brands and Partners

The Haworth Collection brands were well represented at Salone del Mobile 2022, featuring renowned architects and designers Patricia Urquiola, Giulio Cappellini, and many others. The Cappellini, Cassina, GAN, and Poltrona Frau brands all showcased both new products and iconic pieces. Our global partner, Kvadrat, also introduced new designs and innovative iterations of some of their classic textiles and rugs.

Design Trends

Many design themes stood out at Milan Design Week. Among the latest trends, we found designs that celebrate the human experience and nurture well-being through architectural elements, materials, shapes, and colors.
