March 15, 2024 –Until recently, Tommy Car Wash Systems teams were scattered throughout five separate buildings. The design and development of a new corporate headquarters in Holland, Mich. has brought everyone together, under one roof.
Tommy Car Wash Systems sought to create a space and culture where people want to come in to work, together. The new headquarters provides employees the opportunity to work collaboratively and collectively, while also allowing heads down work with individual spaces and unassigned offices. This non-hierarchical design encourages teams to be more comfortable approaching leaders and vice versa, encouraging engagement across all levels of the organization.
Built-in technology and collaborative areas, such as the Pergola workspaces, allow employees to gather and connect from anywhere within the building. Tommy’s headquarters also features a large atrium containing the cafeteria and a community space. Within the cafeteria, employees can gather at open tables or in more private booths for quiet focus time.
The new office design encourages employees to be together, building and strengthening relationships while helping people foster teamwork and productivity. The new headquarters also features benefits like a meditation room for relaxation and respite as well as necessities such as private lactation rooms for new mothers.
Supporting both the corporate office and warehouse, Tommy’s 200,000 square foot headquarters houses about 400 employees. Haworth’s dealer partner, Interphase Interiors, led this project.
