March 20, 2024 – Haworth marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking of its second factory in Chennai, India. The company’s expansion underscores its commitment to the Indian market and the broader Asia-Pacific region. Haworth is set to double the space of its current plant, totaling 113,000 sq. ft.
The new state-of-the-art factory signifies Haworth's dedication to enhancing its manufacturing capabilities and commitment to meeting the growing customer demands for innovative workspace solutions. It will serve as a hub for producing key Haworth products, reduce reliance on imports, fulfill export demands and optimize delivery schedules. Haworth’s first manufacturing plant in Chennai opened in 2014.
Haworth has strategically focused on premium seating, while capitalising on emerging opportunities in systems furniture and pods. The company continues to explore new markets in emerging Tier II cities and onboarded new dealers in Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad and Pune. In late 2023, Haworth also inaugurated a brand-new 26,000 sq. ft. showroom in Chennai.
Haworth has made significant sustainable commitments, including reducing carbon footprint in line with the Paris Climate Agreement, prioritizing sustainable packaging and making tangible differences in local communities. In partnership with Sevalaya, a renowned NGO, the company has contributed to the establishment of a medical centre in Kiloy village near Chennai. This centre serves four neighbouring villages, previously without access to healthcare, offering daily outpatient services to underserved communities.
