HAWORTH AND PANTONE COLLABORATE WITH PATRICIA URQUIOLA AT MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2025

Limited edition collection and artistic exhibition featured at Elle Decor Alchemica, Fuori Salone

April 7 2025 – Haworth is proud to announce its participation in the prestigious Milan Design Week 2025, which will take place from 8 to 13 April. In collaboration with Pantone, the global authority on color and provider of professional color tools for designers, and iconic designer Patricia Urquiola, a limited-edition collection of the Haworth Cardigan Lounge chair and a special exhibition titled “Dualities Discovered” will be presented. This immersive showcase will highlight how Haworth’s sustainable fabrics, customised with Pantone’s latest colour collection, Dualities, can transform furniture pieces and redefine environments through the power of colour.

The exhibition is part of ELLE DECOR ALCHEMICA, an annual project by Elle Décor Italia conceived by Patricia Urquiola. The Alchemica installation blends Elle Decor’s vision with the metaphor of alchemy, symbolising the transformation of materials and the growth of domestic spaces. It captures the ongoing evolution of society through an intuitive and expressive design language.

A Nod to the Chinese Year of the Snake
Within this exhibition, Urquiola created a striking serpentine sculpture, depicting a snake consuming itself – an ancient symbol known as the Ouroboros. Representing infinity, renewal and transformation, it perfectly mirrors the exhibition's focus on sustainability. Just as the Ouroboros suggests an endless cycle of rebirth, the materials in the collection are designed for continual reuse. The sculpture’s interplay of colour, form and texture reflects how both nature and design adapt and evolve in response to a changing world.

The Haworth x Pantone Collection designed by Patricia Urquiola
Underpinning the exhibition and collection is Pantone’s latest colour release, Dualities, which highlights the balance between opposing forces and the cyclical nature of both design and life. The Dualities colour palette reimagines pastels, blending vibrancy with subtlety. Shades range from electrifying citrus tones to soft, smoky hues, infusing energy with neon-like brights or creating a serene atmosphere through delicate yellows, minty greens and faded pinks. Whether standing alone or complementing muted shades, each hue brings a sense of playfulness, sophistication and modernity.

The colours taken from Pantone’s Dualities collection are part of Pantone’s Fashion, Home + Interiors (FHI) product line which was used as part of the artistic exhibition and the Haworth Cardigan Lounge chair. The team referenced and color-matched with Pantone color guides to ensure Patricia’s designs and creative vision of color were matched perfectly. The colors chosen for the partnership include:

  • Pantone 15-3615 TCX Lavender Oil
  • Pantone 14-0225 TCX Spring Leaf
  • Pantone 14- 1242 TCX Melon Ice
  • Pantone 12-2900 TCX Sweet Taffy
  • Pantone 12-0549 TCX Citrus Essence

Haworth Cardigan Lounge chair
The special edition version of the Haworth Cardigan Lounge chair embodies innovation and sustainability. Its wire frame is wrapped in a specially developed knit fabric designed to match Pantone’s colour references. This unique textile provides softness and structure, ensuring both comfort and support. Made from recycled aluminium and polyester, the chair is free from toxins and fully recyclable, reinforcing a forward-thinking approach to materials. Its design expresses duality, where materials harmonise and multiple hues intertwine to create a singular, unified colour. The fabric hugs the frame, much like the chair itself embraces the sitter, reinforcing themes of connection and comfort. The Haworth Cardigan Lounge chair reimagines lounge seating for today's flexible workspaces.

The exhibition and collection will be featured in the Elle Decor Italia Exhibition from 7 to 13 April at Palazzo Bovara. Visitors will experience how colour breathes life into furniture, creating dynamic and emotionally resonant spaces that inspire creativity and connection.

Ninette Kohler, VP of Marketing Communication at Haworth, said “Our successful partnership with Patricia Urquiola is now enhanced by the unrivalled colour expertise of Pantone, bringing together creativity, sustainability and the transformative power of colour. We are thrilled to showcase with leading partners by our side how design can inspire and elevate the human experience.”
  • Tannese Williams, Head of Fashion, Home & Interiors at Pantone, added “Colour is a universal language, and this exhibition demonstrates how it can bring life to furniture and spaces in unexpected and beautiful ways. We were proud to showcase our newest colour collection, Dualities, which like the exhibition, mirrors the beauty in contrasts and how they ultimately can complement each other through colour and design”
  • Patricia Urquiola explained “With this Uroboro, we wanted to explore the idea of continuous transformation – a space that evolves, renews itself and plays with the symbolism of the serpent biting its own tail. Together with Haworth, we developed knitted modules made entirely from recycled PET, shaping a soft object that’s both sustainable and expressive. The colors, created with Pantone, give life to a shifting skin, like a snake in the act of changing form.”
