August 1, 2024 – Building on decades of seating research, Haworth has launched the company’s newest office chair, Breck. With Geostretch patented technology, the chair features a special flexible geometric-stretch back with optimal ratio of back suspension for ergonomic support and a smooth transition from upper to lower back preventing pressure point triggers. Breck is available on Haworth’s store.
“At Haworth, we have a deep expertise for task chairs and with that experience came the knowledge of what could be done for Breck,” said Nicolai Czumaj-Bront, Haworth’s International Design Studio Manager. “We were able to dive in and consider the rules we could break in an effort to simplify and reduce, to create a chair that doesn’t come across like a sitting machine. It could be elegant and understood.”
Sitting comfortably in ergonomic alignment has never been simpler. An approachable answer for performance seating and engineered for perfection, Breck is backed with 5.5B data points in ergonomic analysis, providing every person a custom experience. The new chair is responsive to all individuals with comfort that is exemplified through a weight-activated mechanism and 3-position backstop.
Breck is available in six curated colors, versatile in design and furnishes seamlessly for any personal or commercial office setting. A new caliber for high-quality seating, all Breck models feature standard premium specifications: 4D arm positions, adjustable lumbar support, adjustable seat and synchronized tilt with a weight-activated 3-position backstop.
“The way that the user interacts with Breck is so important, it’s more than an object in a space,” said Angie Lullie, Haworth Senior Industrial Designer. “The best compliment is people telling me they want one in their home. It’s personal and emotive.”
Breck weighs 30lbs, can be quickly assembled from four core components in less than a minute and requires zero tools for assembly. Haworth has kept sustainability at the forefront with low impact production and delivery – the new chair is certified BIFMA Level 3, GREENGUARD® GOLD, Declare® label, manufactured in a zero-waste-to-landfill facility and effectively delivered door-to-door for lower than average global carbon emissions. Expertly crafted with components constructed from recycled fishing nets, each chair is produced with over 50% recycled content and is 94% recyclable.
“Breck will compete to be the best approachably priced chair in the market,” said Paul Nemschoff, Haworth’s Vice President Global Strategy and Marketing. “Additionally, we are drawing on almost 50 years of seating experience, an extensive sustainability program and 5.5 billion points of ergonomic data. Breck is the result of everything we have learned from our seating portfolio and delivers amazing value.”
