CLOSED-LOOP MANUFACTURING PROCESS EXPANDS AT HAWORTH

Industry-first innovation for plastic on ergonomic chairs now includes the entire portfolio

June 8, 2026 – Haworth is expanding its closed-loop manufacturing process further into the performance seating category with the addition of Soji. The raw material for black plastic components, now available on Soji and Fern, is continuously recycled and reused. Haworth is implementing this process across all ergonomic seating products by the end of 2026.

Haworth first announced the closed-loop manufacturing process in 2025, initially focusing on plastic components in its Fern ergonomic office chair. The company partnered with Royal Technologies and PADNOS for this achievement.

This advancement represents a significant milestone for Haworth. While the use of post-industrial materials is not new, this process is a true closed-loop innovation. Plastic generated during manufacturing, along with material recycled from end-of-life chairs, is used to create new chairs without losing value or utility. This process reduces waste and raw material usage while saving energy.
