Case Study Office.One

Alte Kleiderkasse Building

The Alte Kleiderkasse building (old uniform store) sits within the Borough of Altona in Hamburg. It is a modern quarter that retains a lively sense of charm in a central location that provides great transport links. An impressive range of restaurants, cafés and shops nearby offer all the advantages of urban life. Mirroring the atmosphere of the Altona district, the client Office. One developed the idea of creating a space that combines work and people in a modern way, while at the same time reviving the charm of the historic building. The listed brick building from the 19th century, which once served as a storage area for the workwear of railroad employees, proved to be perfect for this purpose. Wide, bright rooms with high ceilings, large industrial windows, a light-flooded gallery, brick walls and steel doors from bygone days. These features evoke a special atmosphere which Office. One and Haworth emphasise through innovative interior design.

Office. One had historically only worked with specialised dealers but were looking for a new partnership directly with a manufacturer. Their hope was to benefit from greater expertise, financial savings and to find a partner that offered a holistic portfolio that could meet the needs of the whole project. The architect recommended Haworth.

It was an exciting challenge to work to a very short deadline and to collaborate with both the client and architectural firm to choose materials that matched the setting and create an impressive overall project.

"Office. One had some stringent requirements for the appearance, quality, durability, and functionality of our modern and flexible space. The collaboration with Haworth enabled us to achieve these smoothly. The breadth of the portfolio was a great help as Haworth offer attractive furniture from their own manufacturing and their partner brands. We also managed to stay within the available budget. Thank you for this great co-operation which we hope to continue in the next exciting Office. One project"
