Collaboration is hot yet most organizations have invested millions to improve collaboration and are left with unsatisfying results. Many have learned that some collaboration can be worse than none at all. A quick assessment exercise, covering technology, culture, economics, and politics topics, will help identify key issues, and start the creation of a custom roadmap for organizational success and increased profit. Anecdotes and insights from David Coleman’s past 20 years of work and research on collaboration will serve as applicable examples to learn from. No one gets an assigned seat, and everyone can choose a different work environment every day. These environments range from high-walled cubbies for writing report, to one-on-one meeting rooms for intense collaboration, to big comfortable lounges for group projects. This presentation shares the project research, an overview of applied “Activity Based Working” concepts, achieved savings and how Haworth supported the project execution through our Harmony Managed Sourcing Program.

Alternative workplace strategy (AWS) is coming of age as a mainstream practice for lean, effective operations. Understanding which strategies are working, who is adopting these strategies and how they are being impacted by the current economic environment was the result of the second annual Alternative Workplace Benchmarking Study conducted by New Ways of Working Network (NewWOW). Representing about 4.5 million employees, more than 100 companies participated globally in this study. Joe Aki Ouye from NewWOW will share how this knowledge can inform your clients’ corporate real estate strategies.
