
Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas

Husband-and-wife team Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas have an extensive resume including furniture, urban and architectural design. Part of the Castelli for Haworth collection, Mumbai desk and storage symbolize their passion for structure and innovative furniture design by exploiting material’s mechanical characteristics.
Of Lithuanian origin, Massimiliano Fuksas was born in Rome in 1944 and graduated in architecture at La Sapienza University in 1969. He opened his studio in Rome is 1967 that was followed in 1989 and 1993 with branches in Paris and Vienna. He has taught in numerous universities all around the world. Between 1998 and 2000, he directed the VII International Venice Biennale, “Less Aesthetics, More Ethics.” His professional life has revolved to a large extent around large public works including university buildings and large urban complexes.
Doriana was born in Rome and graduated in the History of Art from La Sapienza University in 1979. She attended the faculty of architecture where she taught contemporary architecture. She was the director’s assistant for the VII International Biennale of Architecture in Venice and curator of four special selections for the exhibition. She has been working with Fuksas since 1985 and runs the studio design department. Her work is characterized by continuous research into new materials and new manufacturing technologies.
