HOLLAND, MI – February 4, 2010 – Haworth, Inc. today announced 2009 global sales were $1.11 billion.
Franco Bianchi, Haworth President & CEO stated: “While Haworth’s results reflect the economic crisis experienced by the entire industry, we were able to make progress in key areas. We improved our market share in North America, launched several new products around the world and strengthened our position as a leader in providing fully integrated solutions. In addition, we have been able to maintain a strong financial position, despite difficult business adjustments and restructurings. Through the dedicated efforts of our members and dealers, we were able to meet the challenges this year presented and continue to provide increasing value to our clients.”
Haworth continues to focus investments with a long-term perspective on business. In late 2009, the company announced the acquisition of a minority ownership in Tuohy, a manufacturer of executive casegoods, conference tables, seating and lounge furniture, to strategically strengthen its product offering and distribution networks. Haworth’s ongoing sustainability journey reached several milestones in 2009. The company announced that all U.S. and Asian manufacturing facilities, as well as the company’s global headquarters, achieved zero waste to landfill status. A first in the industry, this status is a bold step toward the company’s zero waste goals. Haworth also released its fourth annual sustainability report representing the company’s global commitment to sustainability and certified global products through EcoLabel and GIGA.
Also in 2009, Haworth was honored with the Titan Award from the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the Patron’s Prize from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
