Haworth’s Components Steel and Wood Plants are located in the tranquil community of Big Rapids – home of Ferris State University.

Built in 1996, the foot Components Steel Plant manufactures adaptable pedestals, personal storage towers and desk and table assemblies. About 160 members work in empowered teams and take pride in manufacturing high-quality products. As a result of high production automation, the Big Rapids Steel Plant is Haworth’s most technologically advanced plant. The plant encompasses 291,264 square feet of manufacturing and office space.

The Big Rapids Wood Plant was built in 1990 and restructured in 2001 to produce all wood veneer products. Like all other Haworth manufacturing facilities, the 85,000 square foot plant is a visual factory, using lean production techniques to minimize waste, improve throughput and exceed customer expectations.
