level - The BIFMA Sustainability Standard

level is a mult-attribute, sustainability standard and third-party certification program for the furniture industry.  It was created to deliver an open and transparent means of evaluating and communicating the environmental and social impacts of furniture products in the built environment.
 
Taking into account a company’s social actions, energy usage, material selection and human and ecosystem health impacts, level addresses how a product is sustainable from multiple perspectives.

Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody

FSC provides internationally recognized standard-setting, trademark assurance and accreditation services to companies, organizations, and communities interested in responsible forestry.

The FSC label provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption of forest products, enabling consumers and businesses to make purchasing decisions that benefit people and the environment as well as providing ongoing business value.

GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification Program

The GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification Program gives assurance that products designed for use in office environments and other indoor spaces meet strict chemical emissions limits, which contribute to the creation of healthier interiors. Achieving GREENGUARD Certification gives credence to manufacturers’ sustainability claims, backing them with empirical scientific data from an unbiased, third-party organization.  

 GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification Program

For products intended for use in schools, daycares or other environments where children spend significant periods of time, the GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification Program offers stricter certification criteria. It is referenced by both The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Building Rating System. Products certified to this standard are also suitable for use in environments where children and others work, play or reside.

MBDC Certification

Cradle to Cradle Certification provides a company with a means to tangibly, credibly measure achievement in environmentally-intelligent design and helps customers purchase and specify products that are pursuing a broader definition of quality.

This means using environmentally safe and healthy materials; design for material reutilization, such as recycling or composting; the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency; efficient use of water, and maximum water quality associated with production; and instituting strategies for social responsibility.

For more than 25 years, Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) has provided certification, auditing, and standards development services to encourage environmental sustainability.  SCS programs and standards have long been recognized for superior accuracy and completeness in the green building industry.

Indoor AdvantageTM

SCS Indoor Advantage certification assures our products meet the criteria of the ANSI/BIFMA Furniture Emissions Standards and meets the requirements of LEED EQ 4.5.

SCS Indoor Advantage Gold ensures Haworth’s products meet North America’s toughest limits for indoor air emissions as outlined in CA 01350. Products bearing this label meet the criteria of the ANSI/BIFMA Furniture Emissions Standards M7.1 and X7.1. Certified products are accepted by both CHPS and LEED.
